The article by Asst. Prof. Serdal Tümkaya, a faculty member of our Department of Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence, was recently featured in volume 57 (issue 1–2) of Metaphilosophy, a premier Q1 status journal.
Published in one of the most prestigious journals in the sub-discipline of metaphilosophy, Asst. Prof. Tümkaya’s work focuses on W. V. O. Quine, regarded as one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century.
While Quine is often recognized as a rigid, reductionist, and even "scientistic" naturalist philosopher, Tümkaya, through this article resulting from years of research, argues that this established perception may not be entirely accurate. He opens for discussion Quine’s unexpected views on experimental parapsychology, a field that is little known and may even sound like an oxymoron at first. In doing so, he reveals a surprising flexibility and a deep, dynamic structure within Quine’s thought, which is typically equated with a "scientistic" line.
We congratulate our faculty member and wish him continued success in his research.
