Assoc. Prof. Enis Doko met with ITU students at the conference ‘What Makes Man Human and the Possibility of Machines Having Consciousness’.

Our Head of Philosophy Department Assoc. Prof. Enis Doko met with young people at a conference organised by ITU Diriliş and Medeniyet Club. The main theme of the conference was ‘What Makes Man Human and the Possibility of Machines Having Consciousness’.

Assoc. Prof. Enis Doko discussed the philosophical and scientific dimensions of the concept of ‘consciousness’ in the event and made striking statements on the potential of artificial intelligence and machines to develop consciousness. His evaluations on a wide range of topics from the unique structure of the human mind to current technology and artificial intelligence studies were met with great interest by the participants.

Answering the questions of young people throughout the event, Assoc. Prof. Enis Doko emphasised that the possibility of machines gaining consciousness is not only a technological discussion, but also requires a deep philosophical questioning on human nature and existence.

Students and academics who attended the conference had the opportunity to improve their critical thinking and philosophical discussion skills.

At the end of the event, Assoc. Prof. Enis Doko and the participants were thanked and the message was given that such events will continue.
